At the recently concluded China International Jewelry Fair, Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, won 2 gold prizes, 3 silver prizes, and 1 bronze prize for their excellent work in the National Jade Carving Artwork Competition of Tiangong Prize, as well as 1 prize each in the Craftsmanship and Creativity categories, and 13 nominations, achieving a new record in the number of prize-winning works.
The gold prize work “Wonderful Immortal Path”
The gold prize work “Wonderful Immortal Path” takes inspiration from the legendary “Ten Friends of Immortal Sec” from the Tang Dynasty. This design depicts a majestic main peak standing high and solitary, while the surrounding peaks cluster together in support. The landscape is adorned with a profusion of lush greenery and dense forests, creating a breathtaking scene of undulating peaks, flowing clouds, and babbling streams. It is reported that this design is a successful attempt at applying the theory and practice of four-dimensional space art. Three distinct parts blend seamlessly to form a unified whole while featuring unique scenes and content. By successfully transcending historical boundaries and merging different artistic elements, it offers viewers a fresh and captivating sensory experience.
The Tiangong Prize, founded by Gems & Jewelry Trade Association of China in 2002, is a prestigious professional competition and widely recognized as the highest honor in the domestic jade and stone carving industry. With over 1,000 entries submitted nationwide, the preliminary round shortlists 352 designs, out of which 21 are selected from Fuxin. The competition entries are characterized by their diverse range of subjects, while exhibiting superior artistic standards and reflecting a rich cultural heritage. The selection is carried out on site, with the judges evaluating the jade carvings in person. Additionally, the Fuxin delegation also engages in communication and exchange with industry experts on the development of the raw agate market, strategies for strengthening special resource industries, and joint efforts towards industry upgrading. This laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of Fuxin’s agate industry.
