Namusilai Wetland: Birds’ Paradise Full of Blooming Lotus Flowers
六月 17,2023

Namusilai, which means “the lake full of blooming lotus flowers” in Mongolian, is located in Sihecheng Town, northeast of Zhangwu County, Fuxin City, Liaoning Province. It covers a total area of 7,103 hectares. This natural desert wetland, which preserves a primordial ecosystem, has made an important contribution to building the green barrier in western Liaoning and maintaining the ecological balance in the whole area of northwestern Liaoning.

The wetland is home to more than 100 species of vertebrates, most of which are wild birds. In mid and late March every year, it is a resting area for the winter migratory birds such as white cranes, red-crowned cranes, oriental white storks, black storks, whooper swans, mallards and other rare birds. The majority of them are mallards, which stay here for about a month. Every year around midsummer, flocks of summer residents can also be found on the lotus pond. Among them are wild bird species under key protection.
