On September 22, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference to provide an overview of the development of charitable undertakings in Liaoning Province.
Since 2022, a total of 38.12 million yuan has been invested in Liaoning to provide subsidies for charitable projects in poverty alleviation, medical relief, education assistance, and elderly care, benefiting over 40,000 people. As of now, there are 211 charitable organizations in Liaoning (96 of which have public fundraising qualifications) and 110 foundations. Liaoning has recorded 7.1 million real-name registered volunteers and has a volunteer service force of 26,800 teams, with a total volunteer service duration of approximately 28.553 million hours.
On May 31, 2023, Liaoning successfully held the “2023 Charity Promoting Revitalization” themed event, attracting nationally recognized outstanding charitable projects worth 105 million yuan and promoting on-site donations of 25 million yuan by philanthropic enterprises. The Liaoning Sports Star Charity Endorsement Group, composed of Liaoning Flying Leopards (Liaoning men’s basketball team) and athletes from Liaoning, was established, and a batch of cooperation agreements, including “government-enterprise cooperation” and “government-school cooperation”, were signed at the event. On September 5, 2023, Liaoning successfully held the 8th “Charity Day of China” themed promotional event, unveiling the “Leshan Liaoning” (which means philanthropic Liaoning) charity emblem and raising over 189 million yuan in donations on-site, reaching a historical high.
Liaoning has designated September as the “Charity Promotion Month”, with coordinated efforts among the provincial, municipal, and county levels to carry out a series of charitable activities, including public welfare walks, charity fairs, and themed evening galas. This initiative aims to promote the charitable culture into government offices, enterprises, communities, and schools, effectively facilitating the spread of philanthropic culture. According to statistics, in the first half of 2023, charitable organizations (foundations) in Liaoning received a total of 390 million yuan in charitable donations.
