The painting of Auspicious Cranes is among the most important collections of the Liaoning Provincial Museum. Painted in 1112 by Zhao Ji (1082-1135), Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), it depicts a spectacular scene of a group of cranes hovering above the palace on the sixteenth day of the first lunar month. Adding to its allure, a poem is inscribed on this painting.
Recently, a replica of the painting, meticulously copied by the modern painter Yu Fei’an, appeared in the West Lake Museum in Hangzhou. Although it is not the original painting, the exhibition of the replica is enough to allow visitors to appreciate the extraordinary artistic charm of the Song Dynasty.
The West Lake Museum, located by the West Lake in Hangzhou, is the first thematic museum dedicated to lakes in China. During the Asian Games in Hangzhou, in addition to displaying a rich collection of cultural relics and treasures, the museum integrates modern technology with cultural elements to create an immersive and dreamlike experience for visitors. Stepping into the exhibition halls is like traveling through time, allowing visitors from home and abroad to enjoy a captivating and poetic cultural journey while watching sports events.
