On October 28, the groundbreaking mobilization ceremony for the Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport project was held at the construction site.
Located in the eastern waters of Jinzhou Bay, the Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport is the first offshore “artificial island” airport in China. It covers a land area of 20 square kilometers, with excellent airspace conditions and an exceptional geographical location. Serving as a regional aviation hub, the airport project is planned to have four runways and a total terminal area of 900,000 square meters, following the 4F operational standard.
The project is divided into two phases. In the current phase, the plan includes the construction of two long-distance parallel runways, measuring 3,600 meters and 3,400 meters respectively, as well as a T1 terminal building covering an area of 500,000 square meters. These facilities will cater to the annual demands of 43 million passengers, a cargo and mail throughput of 550,000 tons, and 330,000 flight takeoffs and landings. In the long-term phase, the plan comprises the expansion of two runways and a terminal building covering an area of 400,000 square meters, which will be able to meet the annual demands of 80 million passengers, a cargo and mail throughput of 1.5 million tons, and 540,000 flight takeoffs and landings. When the Dalian Jinzhouwan International Airport is completed and put into operation, the Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport will cease its operation.
After its completion, the project will have profound impacts on accelerating the transformation of Dalian into an international shipping center, an international logistics center, and a regional financial center in Northeast Asia, and promoting Liaoning province to expedite the development of the modern infrastructure system, advance the construction of the Northeast Sea-Land Corridor, build the regional development pattern of “One Circle, One Belt, Two Zones”, improve the opening up and cooperation at home and abroad, and better integrate into the domestic and international dual circulation.
