On November 9th, Piotr Szychowski, director of the International Office and a member of the Chair of Piano at Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland, visited Shenyang Conservatory of Music. Both sides carried out practical cooperation in areas such as student exchange, teacher training, and joint training programs for Ph.D. students.
Founded in 1920, Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan serves as one of the eight major music academies in Poland. On that day, relevant officials from Shenyang Conservatory of Music held a colloquy with Piotr Szychowski. They provided an overview of their conservatories to discuss a partnership.
Piotr Szychowski expressed that both Shenyang Conservatory of Music and Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan have a long history. He looked forward to further cooperation with Shenyang Conservatory of Music. “I really love Chinese culture and I have visited China many times.” He said, “I have many students from China, and they are outstanding with a high level of proficiency in music.”
Piotr Szychowski also gave an exciting piano lesson to students at Shenyang Conservatory of Music. Six students performed piano pieces including Ravel’s Jeux d'eau, Fauré’s Romance sans paroles, and other famous works by Chopin and Beethoven. He provided detailed guidance on the techniques of these pieces and conducted live demonstrations.
Wu Jiajun, dean of the Music Education College at Shenyang Conservatory of Music, said, “Music has no boundaries, and we hope to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries through cooperation in the field of music.”
