There is a beautiful rose valley in the Yalong Bay International Tourism Resort in Sanya, Hainan, China’s southernmost province. Within the valley, the whole rose garden contrasts with the coconut trees, forming a beautiful scenery of Sanya.
Located in Bohou Village, Sanya Yalong Bay International Rose Valley is a national 3A-level scenic spot integrating tourism with leisure, which was founded by Yang Ying, an entrepreneur from Liaoning. The rose valley entered Bohou Village in Yalong Bay in 2009, and improved the soil of the leased saline-alkali land, after which varietals were selected and seedlings cultivated. It is worth mentioning that all the improved soil was transported from the black soil in Northeast China.
Themed around beauty, romance, and love, the rose valley covers 2,755 mu (over 183 hectares) and is the biggest of its kind in Asia. The rose valley is a paradise of roses and a popular site for photography lovers. There are various kinds of flower sections, as well as many entertaining programs, like tasting rose tea and homemade rose beverages. The rose valley attracts millions of tourists every year and is one of the must-see sightseeing spots in Sanya.
With the rose industry as its core, the rose valley is also an industrial base that incorporates planting, seedling cultivation, research and development, sales of derivative products, display, and holiday vacationing. With 17 years of experience in cultivating roses in the tropics, the rose valley has formed a complex development model made up of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, continuously worked to increase Bohou Village’s land value, and helped increase local farmers’ income.
Supported by the Hainan Free Trade Port’s policies, the rose valley has been built into a rose-industry-based international trade center that realizes bulk transactions of rose derivatives, flavors and fragrances, promotes rural revitalization and development, and drives villagers towards achieving common prosperity.
