On November 29, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the first press conference of the “Nature’s Embrace, Liaoning’s Grace” series, focusing on the theme of ice and snow in the province. The conference features a news release and a Q&A session, emphasizing the development and growth of the ice and snow industry in Shenyang.
To transform Liaoning’s abundant “cold” resources into a high-quality “hot”economy, and implement the concept that “ice and snow are invaluable assets”, Shenyang has meticulously planned the “My Heart Yearns for Shenyang: Sunlit Warmth Amidst Snow” winter tourism campaign. The campaign will encompass four main themes, namely “Admiring the Scenic Beauty of the North China”, “Indulging in Festive Delights”, “Pursuing Athletic Dreams”, and “Experiencing the Richness of Humanistic Fragrance”. With an array of nearly 400 diverse cultural and tourism activities scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly, this campaign instills a sense of pride in the locals of Shenyang, captures the hearts of those who have visited the city, and fuels the longing of those who have yet to set foot in Shenyang.
Leveraging the four major ski resorts including Dong Bei Ya Ski, Qipanshan Ski, Guaipo Ski, and Baiqingzhai Ski, as well as indoor ice and snow entertainment complexes such as the Longemont, the Mixc, and Heping Ice and Snow Sports Center, Shenyang will host ten prominent ice and snow tourism activities. These include the Ice and Snow Carnival at the Olympic Sports Center, the Ice and Snow Carnival at Rice Cultural Theme Park, and the China-Olympic Sports Cultural Festival at Xingchuang Aoyue. Meanwhile, Shenyang will issue cultural and tourism vouchers for ice and snow consumption and encourage major ski resorts and ice and snow parks to launch promotional programs, boosting winter tourism in Shenyang and igniting enthusiasm for ice and snow sports.
As the first city in China to host both the National Games and the National Winter Games, Shenyang will continue optimizing its development strategy during the 2023-2024 winter season. This includes enhancing ice and snow facilities, developing ice and snow events, promoting the ice and snow culture, and strengthening the ice and snow industry. By harnessing the comprehensive value and multifunctionality of ice and snow sports, Shenyang aims to drive significant growth in the ice and snow economy and strives to establish itself as the city of ice and snow sports.
