On December 5, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the second press conference of the “Nature’s Embrace, Liaoning’s Grace” series, introducing Benxi’s significant efforts this year in promoting ice and snow tourism, winter sports, and ice and snow cultural experiences. It highlighted the main measures, key events, relevant arrangements, and distinctive features aimed at fostering the development of the ice and snow economy.

Benxi is committed to forging a comprehensive and immersive ice and snow tourism experience, with a primary focus on winter tourism as the key driver of the ice and snow economy, aiming to transform ice and snow resources into invaluable assets. A series of distinctive ice and snow-themed tourist routes are being integrated and enhanced, seamlessly connecting scenic areas such as Huaximu Maple & Snow Hot Spring Tourist Resort, Benxi Water Cave, Guanmen Mountain, Xiaoshi Yizhuang, and Dongfeng Lake.

By integrating elements such as ice and snow, hot springs, and distinctive cuisine, Benxi plans various activities such as “Play with Ice and Snow”, “Relax in Hot Springs”, and “Embark on a Culinary Exploration” to comprehensively boost winter tourism consumption. Moreover, it will launch marketing and promotional campaigns for the winter season, to create a shopping frenzy during the Spring Festival. Additionally, winter fruit-picking activities featuring strawberries and persimmons will be organized, along with distinctive culinary-tasting events. Building upon these activities, Benxi aims to make its winter season come alive, creating a vibrant, energetic, and bustling atmosphere.

Benxi will further enrich the experience of ice and snow events by organizing a wide range of popular ice and snow series competitions, including public skiing events. This will foster nationwide enthusiasm for participating in winter sports and boost ice and snow consumption. In the meantime, the city will leverage its urban cultural and tourism resources to create new experiences for cultural, sports, and tourism consumption, and host an array of popular ice and snow activities that combine regional ice and snow tourism resources with local folk traditions.

Furthermore, Benxi will offer a diverse range of captivating and immersive ice and snow cultural activities. These activities will feature unique cultural art exhibitions, including breathtaking ice sculptures, mesmerizing ice lantern displays, and showcases of customs associated with the Spring Festival. By immersing visitors in the cultural allure and artistic atmosphere of the mountain city during winter, these exhibitions will infuse the activities with profound cultural significance.
