Recently, Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, has launched a series of winter tourism events known as “Sunlit Warmth Amidst Snow”, featuring four major ice-snow activities, 30 popular photo spots, and consumer coupons for winter activities, which aims to boost winter tourism in Shenyang and promote the development of ice and snow sports.
To transform abundant “cold” resources in Liaoning into a high-quality “hot” economy and adhere to the concept that “Snow and ice are also valuable assets that represent true wealth”, Shenyang has meticulously planned a series of winter tourism events with the theme of “My Heart Yearns for Shenyang: Sunlit Warmth Amidst Snow.” It will launch four main themes, including “Winter Tourism in Shenyang-Admire the Northern Scenery”, “Winter Delight in Shenyang-Enjoy Festive Atmosphere”, “Winter Sports in Shenyang-Pursue Athletic Dreams”, and “Winter Appreciation in Shenyang-Revel in Cultural Fragrance”. With an array of nearly 400 diverse cultural and tourism activities scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly, this campaign instills a sense of pride in the locals, captivates visitors who have been to Shenyang, and fuels the longing of those who have yet to set foot in the city.
Relying on four major ski resorts, including Northeast Asia International Ski Resort, Qipanshan Ice and Snow World, Guaipo International Ski Resort, and Baiqingzhai Ski Resort, as well as indoor ice and snow entertainment complexes such as Longemont, MIXC, and Heping Ice and Snow Sports Center, Shenyang will host ten prominent ice and snow tourism activities, including the Ice and Snow Carnival at the Olympic Sports Center, the Ice and Snow Carnival at Rice Dream Space (Tanbo Art Kingdom) Theme Park, the China Olympic Cultural Festival at Xingchuang Aoyue. Meanwhile, Shenyang will issue cultural and tourism consumption coupons for ice and snow activities and encourage various ski resorts and ice and snow parks to launch promotional programs, boosting winter tourism in Shenyang and promoting the development of ice and snow sports.
As the first city to host both the National Games and the National Winter Games in China, Shenyang will continue to optimize development strategy, improve ice and snow facilities, increase ice and snow events, promote ice and snow culture, and develop ice and snow industry during the winter season from 2023 to 2024. By leveraging the comprehensive value and diverse functions of ice and snow sports, it aims to achieve leapfrog development of the ice and snow economy, striving to build Shenyang into a city renowned for ice and snow sports.
