2024-02-04

Liaoning Provincial Museum held an exhibition of cultural relics themed on the Year of the Dragon on February 2nd. A large number of Chinese and international visitors were attracted by these exquisite cultural relics and went to the exhibition on its first day. The exhibition hall was filled with a festive atmosphere, as people viewed the cultural relics and took pictures to enjoy the culture of the Spring Festival.

The year 2024 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese lunar calendar. The exhibition features five units: Origin, Shape, Meaning, Soul and Dissemination, with nearly 200 pieces of dragon-themed cultural relics, including ceramics, bronze, jade, painting and calligraphy, lacquer, clothing, embroidery and enamel, accompanied with graphic introduction and multimedia effects. Among them, there are six pieces of national-level cultural relics, the Hongshan culture jade pig-shaped dragon, the Western Zhou dragon square pot, the Northern Song Shangjing Dasheng Nanlyu serial bells, the Yuan blue and white dragon-patterned goblet and so on. Some cultural relics in the exhibition made their first appearance to the general public, such as the seven pieces of Qing dragon robe with exquisite embroidery. At the same time, the dragon-themed intangible cultural heritage handicrafts were also displayed on the same day, including the paper pleating jade pig-shaped dragon, cloth flying dragon, paper-cutting flying dragon, and dragon head woven with Chinese knot.

The exhibition hall not only attracted Shenyang citizens to appreciate the cultural relics, but also drew many tourists from Jilin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, who got a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture. The exhibition will stay open to the public during the Chinese New Year.
