The Seminar on Chinese Language for Governmental Officials from English-Speaking Countries in Africa was recently launched at Shenyang Normal University.

For the last few days, 36 African students from Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria and South Africa studied Chinese language and culture at Shenyang Normal University and learned about China’s social, economic and cultural development. By taking courses such as the evolution of Chinese characters, business Chinese and Chinese philosophical classics, they mastered Chinese language knowledge and understood Chinese culture.

Apart from classroom study, they also visited the world cultural heritage sites in Shenyang, such as the Shenyang Imperial Palace, Fuling Mausoleum, Zhaoling Mausoleum, as well as the Liaoning Provincial Museum. While admiring the ancient buildings and cultural relics, they had an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of Liaoning.

Moreover, the students also visited Liaoning University, Shenyang Institute of Engineering, and Shenyang Aerospace University, to know about the latest developments in the field of international Chinese education at Liaoning universities, and the characteristics and advantages of Chinese language teaching in different disciplines, and to discuss areas of future cooperation with these universities.
