On December 9, 2024, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference of the series on the “Nature’s Embrace, Liaoning’s Grace” ice and snow economy in Anshan, presenting the development of Anshan’s ice and snow culture and tourism industry.

This winter, Anshan has meticulously planned and presented seven winter themes, aiming to create a cultural and tourism spectacle of “weekly highlights and monthly delights” for visitors.

Theme One: Snow appreciation. Clad in a silver mantle during winter, Anshan becomes particularly enchanting. Visitors are recommended to explore several ideal snow-viewing spots, including the Qianshan Scenic Area and the Laoyuanzi Scenic Area.

Theme Two: Cuisine. Anshan’s cuisine is uniquely captivating, offering a variety of gourmet experiences. Highlights include Sanliqiao Barbecue in Haicheng, Qianpu Lamb Soup in Xiuyan, and Niuzhuang Stuffed Pancakes in Haicheng.

Theme Three: Hot springs. Anshan’s hot springs are a perfect choice for health and wellness, helping to ward off the winter cold, refresh the mind and body, and promote vitality. Recommended retreats include Tanggangzi Hot Springs and Qingshuiwan Hot Springs.

Theme Four: Snow activities. Anshan is a paradise for snow enthusiasts, featuring several excellent snow play areas, including Qianshan Ski Resort and the snow play area at 219 Park.

Theme Five: Winter tourism. Anshan has carefully prepared various winter travel strategies, offering five series of winter tourism routes including ice and snow hot springs, winter scenery, local cultural and creative products, intangible cultural heritage cuisine, and winter vacation study tours.

Theme Six: Folk customs. Focusing on traditional festivals such as New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, and Lantern Festival, Anshan will host a spectacular ice and snow cultural carnival. This event invites residents and visitors to experience the warmth of ice and snow culture amid the enchanting winter scenery.

Theme Seven: Competitions. Known as the “City of Olympic Champions”, Anshan will present a sports and ice and snow extravaganza this winter. On December 21, the 2025 National New Year Mountaineering Festival (Liaoning Province Main Venue) and Anshan Ice and Snow Carnival series of events will kick off in a grand ceremony at Qianshan Laoyuanzi Scenic Area, attracting outdoor sports enthusiasts from inside and outside the province to gather in Anshan and climb Qianshan together.
