On December 18, 2024, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference of the series on the “Nature’s Embrace, Liaoning’s Grace” ice and snow economy in Huludao City, introducing the three thematic activities and two premium travel routes planned for Huludao’s winter-spring tourism season.

Huludao City serves as a crucial hub connecting Northeast and North China, strategically located along the Liaoxi Corridor. It is the first gateway into Northeast China and the last stop when leaving the region. The city boasts 1,526 cultural heritage sites, including one UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its 285-kilometer coastline and 265.2-kilometer stretch of cultural landmarks along the Great Wall create a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Remarkably, despite temperatures dropping to -6°C, the sea in Huludao does not freeze, making it an attractive destination for winter swimming enthusiasts seeking a challenge.

Huludao’s winter-spring tourism season features three captivating thematic activities: Visitors can explore Hulu Ancient Town Snow Village to experience the authentic lifestyle of traditional Northeast China, watch classic Northeast operas, and enjoy the festive Spring Lantern Show. In Xingcheng Ancient City, the City Gate Opening Ceremony invites tourists to uncover the unique historical charm and mysterious atmosphere of Ningyuan Ancient Town. In Suizhong, visitors can admire a grand and creative fireworks display and celebrate the Spring Festival with firecrackers at the Dongdaihe Resort. In addition, Huludao plans to organize 25 premium cultural, sports and tourism events, including the Second Xingcheng Seafood Hotpot Festival, offering a diverse array of activities to enhance the winter-spring travel experience.

Two premium travel routes, themed “Ice and Snow Adventure Tour” and “Ice and Snow Leisure Tour”, offer distinct experiences for visitors. The Ice and Snow Adventure Tour begins at Dongdaihe Beach, passing through renowned attractions such as Zhimao Bay, Jieshi Palace, Yintai Mercury Marine Park, and the Jiumenkou Great Wall, combining thrilling activities with scenic exploration. The Ice and Snow Leisure Tour provides a tranquil and relaxing experience. Visitors can admire stunning sunrises, stroll along coastal boardwalks, take in the breathtaking frozen seascapes of the ice island, and indulge in the unique hot spring experience of Xingcheng.
