On December 23, 2024, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference of the series on the “Nature’s Embrace, Liaoning’s Grace” ice and snow economy in Tieling, introducing details about Tieling’s cultural and tourism projects for this winter.
This winter, Tieling will embrace the theme “A Joyful Date in Tieling: Enjoy the Ice and Snow Feast” and launch its “Ice and Snow +” initiative. The program features four major categories, namely, “Enjoy Ice and Snow, Enjoy Folk Culture, Enjoy Sports, and Enjoy Cuisine”, offering more than 40 scenarios.
In terms of ice and snow projects, in addition to traditional attractions such as Jinfeng Ski Resort and Xiaomaju Ski Resort, multiple indoor and outdoor ice sport projects have been added, ensuring a widely popular start to the new snow season with comprehensive regional collaboration and diverse offerings across various locations. A variety of ice and snow activities will provide visitors with exciting options such as winter camping, children’s snow play areas, horse-drawn sled rides, a 100-meter ice slide, bumper cars on ice, and a man-made snow-capped “Mount Everest”. These facilities promise visitors an exciting winter experience.
At the same time, Tieling will highlight its unique charm by connecting scenic spots, commercial districts, and cultural venues, launching 10 themed boutique travel routes such as “Exploring Northeast Charm”, “Tracing the Legacy of Great Figures”, and “Savoring Tieling Cuisine”. These routes aim to provide visitors with convenient travel guides. In terms of cultural performances, Tieling will continue to leverage its reputation as the “Hometown of Quyi (Chinese folk vocal art forms)” and “A Joyful Tieling”. Artistic performances, including stand-up comedy, theater productions, crosstalk, and star-studded Errenzhuan shows (Northeast song-and-dance duet), will offer visitors an immersive experience of Northeast China’s cultural flair. Moreover, Tieling will tantalize visitors’ taste buds with delicacies from northern Liaoning. The signature dish, “Black Carp Hotpot on Ice”, allows guests to savor delicious cuisine while experiencing the dramatic interplay of fire and ice.
The 15th International Steam Locomotive Tourism Season will kick off on January 17, 2015. The event will feature folk culture exhibitions, horse racing performances, motorcycle riding displays, and cultural tourism markets. Additionally, a variety of winter-themed sports, cultural, and tourism events will be launched, including a winter swimming festival, a winter fishing festival, ice skating, and Galaha (Northeast folk leisure game) competitions.
