On January 19, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in 2024 to release and interpret the province’s economic data of the past year, presenting the overall situation, major achievements, highlights, and significant influences of the province’s economic performance in 2024.

According to the statistics of the unified regional calculation of gross domestic product (GDP), the regional GDP of Liaoning in 2024 reached 3.26127 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.1% at constant prices. By industry, the added value of the primary industry was 256.57 billion yuan, up by 4.2% year on year, the added value of the second industry was 1.15033 trillion yuan, up by 5.3% year on year, and that of the tertiary industry was 1.85437 trillion yuan, up by 5.0% year on year.

The total added value of industries above designated size across the province in 2024 grew by 3.1% compared to the previous year. Of this total, the added value of high-tech manufacturing grew by 11.3%. Of the 40 industries across the province, the added value of 31 sectors registered a positive growth. The grain yield of Liaoning in 2024 was 50.01 billion jin, representing a steady growth in agricultural production and another bumper harvest. The added value of the wholesale and retail industry, and accommodation and catering industry in the province rose by 3.5% and 6.0% compared to the previous year, respectively. The total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 1.07783 trillion yuan, up by 4.0% year on year.

In 2024, investment in fixed assets of Liaoning grew by 5.3% compared to the previous year, with the growth rate reaching a new height in the past decade. Of this total, investment from the central government rose by 27.8%. The province’s CPI increased by 0.2% compared to the previous year, with that of urban areas up by 0.2% and that of rural areas by 0.5%. Revenue in the general public budget of the province was 290.58 billion yuan, up by 5.5% year on year, and expenditure in the general public budget registered 685.32 billion yuan, up by 4.2% year on year. The per capita disposable personal income of residents in the province was 39,844 yuan, up by 4.9% year on year. Specifically, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 47,982 yuan, up by 4.5% year on year, and that of rural residents was 22,744 yuan, up by 5.9% year on year. The urban-rural income ratio was 2.11, 0.03 lower than that of 2023.
