The “National Cultural and Museum Social Education Case Publicity and Displaying Activity” was recently held in Beijing, guided by China Cultural Relics Exchange Association, and hosted by China Cultural Relics News. The project-based learning activity “I’m a Little Museum Researcher” submitted by the Liaoning Provincial Museum was successfully selected as a “National Cultural and Museum Social Education Case”.

Based on the “Method for the Selection of Cultural and Museum Social Education Case Publicity and Displaying Activities”, 100 high-quality social education cases were selected from 243 submitted ones after experts reviewed the materials, conducted comprehensive evaluations, and cast real-name votes. The categories of selected cases include publicity and explanation, research and study, themed performances, exhibitions, and digitization.

Building upon the “Splendid Mountains and Rivers—Liao and Jin Dynasties Cultural Relics Themed Exhibition”, Liaoning Provincial Museum, together with Shenyang Education Bureau and Shenyang Education Research Institute, launched the social education activity “I’m a Little Museum Researcher”. This activity is closely integrated with Liaoning’s regional culture, leading students to learn about the course of common prosperity and development of multiple ethnic groups in Chinese history.

The museum’s social education project “I’m a Little Museum Researcher” has held 68 training sessions, learning exchanges and other educational activities. By going deep into the museum, student teams have achieved the transition from simple curiosity to in-depth research through immersive learning, research-based exploration, and display of learning results. The students took the initiative to raise questions and actively find solutions. As a result, their learning and practical abilities and teamwork spirit have been significantly improved.
