On July 31, the exhibition titled “Mountains and Seas Merge, Harmony and Coexistence—Thematic Exhibition on Forging a Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation in Liaoning Province” officially opened at the Liaoning Provincial Museum. The cultural relics on display span 280,000 years, making it the exhibition with the largest chronological span in the history of the Liaoning Provincial Museum.
The exhibits comprise 512 cultural relics (sets) from 29 cultural and museum institutions, including selected items from the Liaoning Provincial Museum’s “Ancient Liaoning” exhibition, such as the Jade Pig-Shaped Dragon, Bo Ju Yan (a ritual bronze vessel), and the Duck-Shaped Glass vessel. The exhibits also include significant loans from within and beyond the province, like the Talc Figurine, Stone Mould for Axe and Chisel with Human Face Relief, and the Jade Book of Emperor Taizu (Gao Huangdi) of the Qing Dynasty. Among these, 264 items (sets) are on loan, 57 items (sets) are first-class cultural relics on display, and 109 items (sets) are being exhibited for the first time.
This exhibition systematically presents the historical evolution, formation, and development of the pluralistic and integrated pattern of the Chinese nation in the Liaoning region, vividly showcasing the vibrant scenes of people of all ethnic groups inheriting the fine traditional Chinese culture and nourishing their spiritual homeland through interaction, communication, and integration.
The exhibition will run for four months, remaining open until November 30, 2025. It is located in Exhibition Halls 1 and 2 on the first floor of the Liaoning Provincial Museum.
