Recently, at the Xingfudao National Ecological Farm in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, 3,000 mu of paddy fields stretch like a verdant ocean. Amid this landscape, a group of white egrets is hovering above the field. From time to time, they dip their beaks into the water to peck at pests in the paddy fields. This scene has become a daily sight on the farm.
Egrets are national second-class protected animals. They have extremely high requirements for the environmental quality of their habitats, so they are known as “monitoring birds for air and water quality” and enjoy the reputation of “environmental protection birds”.
