When international “talents” meet traditional Chinese art, a splendid cultural encounter, spanning mountains and seas, unfolded in Shenyang, Liaoning Province! On September 25, the Liaoning International Communication Center (LICC) held its “Chinese Talent Show of International Students in Liaoning” at Shenyang Jianzhu University. International students from eight countries gathered here to showcase their learning achievements during the filming of the video series “Show Your Chinese Talents”, presenting a visual feast of traditional Chinese art.
The show kicked off with the powerful sound of a Chinese drum. Bai Shuqing from Madagascar sang the Peking Opera clip Ode to Pear Blossoms; Arhin William from Ghana performed kuaiban (clapper talk) Bragging to showcase the fun of Chinese language; Liu Bao from Hungary drew cheers with his dragon dance performance... The national orchestral ensemble Big Fish by Shenyang Jianzhu University brought the whole show to a successful conclusion with its fusion of modern music style and traditional instruments.
Every international student who took the stage was not just showcasing Chinese talents, but was perceiving and promoting China in their own way. Through the project “Show Your Chinese Talents”, many of them have gradually mastered the essence of traditional Chinese art from scratch under the careful guidance of Chinese teachers. Furthermore, they have become storytellers of China and pathfinders of cultural exchanges between China and the world.
“Show Your Chinese Talents—International Interactive Communication Project for the Chinese Talent Show of International Students in Liaoning” is an international communication brand that LICC has focused on building. It has not only provided a platform for international students in Liaoning to deeply understand China, but also promoted China’s outstanding traditional culture to the world in a youthful and international manner through diverse forms including short videos, performances, and campus visits. The project has further aroused a new perception and comprehension of “a community with a shared future for mankind”.
