On November 11, the Liao-Jin Era Exhibition Hall within the Ancient Liaoning permanent exhibition at the Liaoning Provincial Museum reopened to the public following its renovation and upgrade. Having undergone a year of meticulous preparation and construction, this hall has received a comprehensive upgrade in its content, design, exhibition formats and spatial layout, aiming to create an immersive and high-quality viewing experience for visitors.

The renovation involved a systematic review and innovative reorganization of the original display content. The exhibits have been re-categorized into thematic sections covering the political systems, daily life, funeral customs, literature and art, and spiritual beliefs of the Liao and Jin periods, thereby building a rich, multi-layered, and logically clear narrative system. The textual introductions are written based on the concept of “forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation”, emphasizing the exchanges, interactions, and integration among various ethnic groups at that time. This approach further enriches the diversity of Chinese culture and vividly presents the pattern of unity within the diversity of the Chinese nation. Additionally, new archaeological findings have been incorporated, and new exhibits have been added, enriching the display’s content and enabling visitors to experience more directly the inheritance and development of regional historical culture.

To improve the viewing experience, the museum has fully replaced the wall cabinet glass with industry-leading low-reflection glass. Compared with traditional glass, low-reflection glass effectively reduces reflectivity and minimizes interference from ambient light on exhibit viewing, enabling visitors to clearly appreciate the detailed textures and color gradations of the exhibits. At the same time, low-reflection glass features both high light transmittance and ultraviolet protection. While optimizing the cultural relic viewing experience, it provides more comprehensive protection for the exhibits, achieving dual improvement in viewing effect and cultural relic protection.

Without altering the original exhibition space, breakthroughs were sought in the design wherever possible. For instance, double-sided display cases make the entire hall appear more open and spacious. The hall employs a simple and elegant design approach, using color coordination, lighting layout, virtual reality, and scene creation to craft a spatial atmosphere highly consistent with the displayed content. The exhibition area features four multimedia display zones, two interactive touchscreen display cabinets, one interactive game experience area, and one photo spot, enhancing visitor interaction with the exhibits and making the viewing process more engaging and enjoyable. Furthermore, the signage within the hall has been fully optimized to provide more convenient and clearer viewing guidance for visitors.
