On January 31, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a themed press conference on the 2025-2026 ice and snow season, introducing Shenyang’s ice and snow cultural and tourism resources as well as the city’s development of ice and snow sports.
Shenyang has established a comprehensive, multi-tiered system of ice and snow facilities. In the field of professional skiing, the city boasts more than 30 high-quality ski trails, each with distinct features. Among them, the Dongbeiya International Ski Resort, the largest ski resort in the province with the most ski trails, is capable of hosting top-tier international competitions. In terms of snow-based leisure activities, dozens of distinctive ice and snow parks are distributed across both urban and rural areas, enabling visitors of all age groups to fully enjoy winter activities in Shenyang.
The city has integrated its rich historical heritage into winter landscapes by carefully designing a number of premium winter tourism routes that organically connect ice and snow attractions with cultural landmarks and culinary experiences. Shenyang has consistently placed a strong emphasis on visitor experience by setting up “Welcome Stations” at airports and railway stations, providing one-stop services such as free down jacket rentals, hot beverages, and tourism consultation. In addition, the city has introduced a range of public-benefit measures, including special free admission offers tied to the Year of the Horse at venues such as the Shenyang Imperial Palace.
During the 2025-2026 ice and snow season, Shenyang will coordinate the staging of more than 80 ice and snow sports events at various levels, including one international-level event and five national-level events. The city will also roll out an innovative “Travel with the Events” series to encourage ice and snow consumption.
