On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, an education delegation from West Flanders Province of Belgium visited Liaoning, injecting new vitality into the development of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two provinces.
On March 28th, Carl Decaluwe, governor of West Flanders Province, led an education delegation to visit Shenyang Aerospace University. They visited Liaoning General Aviation Academy, Aviation Expo Park, and key laboratories to gain a detailed understanding of the university’s research capabilities and talent cultivation achievements in the aerospace field.
On the playground of Shenyang Aerospace University, members of the delegation observed a model aircraft performance. The students of Shenyang Aerospace University proficiently controlled multiple model aircraft, showcasing their proficient skills and strong professional competence. The delegation learned how to operate model aircraft and experienced the fun of flying them, gaining a firsthand impression of the solid foundation of aerospace education in Liaoning.
Although they are thousands of miles apart, Shenyang Aerospace University and VIVES are highly compatible in terms of educational philosophy and discipline construction. Faculty members from the two universities held a symposium to explore how to promote interdisciplinary collaborative development. Representatives of the two universities signed a cooperation agreement, reaching a consensus on promoting teacher-student exchanges and scientific research cooperation, marking a concrete step forward in educational cooperation between the two provinces.
Evert Cottyn, director of the International Office of VIVES, stated that the exchange of students between the two universities will soon be realized, and the next step will be to promote exchange students to obtain dual degrees between China and Belgium. Cooperation in research fields such as artificial intelligence will also be carried out gradually.
During their stay in Liaoning, the delegation also visited Shenyang Siasun Robot Automation Co., Ltd. to learn more about Liaoning’s leading-edge technologies and their practical applications in the fields of intelligent manufacturing and robotics.
Carl Decaluwe, governor of West Flanders Province, said that his trip to Liaoning was fruitful and laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation. West Flanders Province will continue to develop friendly relations with Liaoning and carry out practical cooperation in higher education, technological innovation, and green economy across a wider range of fields and at a higher level.
