On the evening of September 3, the Yangzhou opera Zheng Banqiao, created by the Yangju Opera Institute of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province, was staged at the Liaoning Grand Theatre. This was a specially invited production for the 13th Liaoning Art Festival.

The Yangzhou opera Zheng Banqiao focuses on the two periods of time that the Qing Dynasty calligrapher and painter Zheng Banqiao spent in Yangzhou during his middle and later years. Through several humorous yet profound stories, it vividly portrays Zheng Banqiao as an incorruptible official, a man of noble character, and an artist of exquisite skill. The opera previously won the Outstanding Production Award at the 18th China Theatre Festival. This is the first time Yangzhou opera has been performed on a Liaoning stage, and it was well-received by the Liaoning audience.
