In 2023, Liaoning’s exhibition and convention industry has shown a strong recovery trend. 108 exhibitions and conventions were held in January and February, an increase of more than double over the same period last year; the exhibition area reached 1.184 million square meters, an increase of more than four times year-on-year. These frequent exhibition activities have contributed much to services such as catering, accommodation, transportation, tourism, advertising, and logistics, thus adding impetus to the stable growth of economy.
The exhibition and convention industry is an important platform for promoting opening up and high-quality economic development. As the main driver for developing the exhibition and convention industry, brand exhibitions play an important role in promoting investment and trade, opening up markets and stimulating consumption. Liaoning has initiated six programmes centering on the Three-Year Action Plan for Comprehensive Revitalization and New Breakthroughs. With a commitment to fostering exhibitions with higher quality and making a professional, international, branded and digitalized exhibition industry, Liaoning will develop national-level exhibitions, form an exhibition center city layout with “double cores”, shore up highly integrated development of brand exhibitions and key industries, stimulate consumption with brand exhibitions, foster new drivers of growth in the exhibition industry, and work to improve coordination and logistics of the exhibition industry. In 2023, 30 high-quality brand exhibitions will be held in Liaoning Province, with a total exhibition area of 500,000 square meters.
In addition, Shenyang is leveraging its role as the provincial capital to enhance key brand exhibitions such as the Global Industrial Internet Conference and China (Shenyang) Korea Week, through the development of comprehensive pilot zones for opening up the service sector and the construction of an international consumption center city. Meanwhile, Dalian will take its leading role as the center of the coastal economic belt based on constructing Main International Shipping Center in Northeast Asia and a strong ocean economy city to continuously improve key branded exhibitions such as the China-Japan (Dalian) Expo and SHIPTEC CHINA (International Shipbuilding, Marine Equipment and Offshore Engineering Exhibition for China).
