“Feast of a Thousand Fish Dishes” Creating New Consumption Scenario

Taste over 1,000 fish dishes the moment cooked by master chefs, enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Tanghe Scenic Area where winter jasmine blooms in early spring, and relish special and pleasant hot springs in a city renowned for them... Recently, the first Tanghe Fish Festival is held in Liaoyang, Liaoning, creating a new consumption scenario of “tourism integrating fish” through the “feast of a thousand fish dishes” .

At the opening ceremony, 50 famous chefs cook 2,000 jin fish from the Tanghe River with hundreds of cooking methods. On the 50-meter long tables of both sides are placed 1,500 fresh fish dishes successively, and the unprecedented Tanghe fish feast dazzles tourists on the site.

In addition to the “nourishing fish head”, awarded as one of the “top ten flavour food of Liaoning”, there are all sorts of common dishes, like steamed fish head with diced hot peppers, braised fish chunk in brown sauce, steamed fish and sauted fish slices. Other novel dishes like “Fengsheng Shuiqi”(Chef Liu’s raw fish fillet), “Bubu Gaosheng”(Chef Liu’s fish cake), fried diced fish with magnolia, Green Lake dried small fish and dried fish slice with apricot, attract more attention and are captured in photos by visitors.

At around 11:00, “It’s ready!” When the chefs say it, the most eagerly-awaited feast of a thousand fish dishes starts by opening the first pot tied with a festive red ribbon, as a symbol of “fortune shines down”. There is a over 30 jin Tanghe bighead carp smelling good in the presence of the tourists, and it serves their taste buds well. With the cheerful atmosphere, more than a thousand fish dishes are finished off right away.

It is introduced that the Tanghe Reservoir, as a source of drinking water, is well known for good water quality, no pollution and rich bait, which makes it perfect for fish growth and reproduction. There are all kinds of fish in the Tanghe River, including carp, silver carp, bighead carp, grass carp, crucian carp, black carp, Wuchang carp, banded catfish and so on, all of which taste fresh and tender.

During the event, the main venue is set up with experience areas of special food, such as local Tanghe stew and roast fish, mutton soup and roast whole lamb. Free tasting activities like the feast of a thousand fish dishes are held every afternoon. In addition, different experience zones are set up for special local products exhibition, trendy food and snacks from all over the country, internet-famous handmade folklore, game and entertainment and so on.
