10 o’clock, April 22th, the launching ceremony of the 12th Liaoning Reading Festival was held in Shenyang Times Library City’s Study.

The launching ceremony was live-streamed on multiple platforms, and planned to introduce key activities of the festival, including Reading Lights Up the City — Cultural Tour of City’s Study, “Enter the Study and Build Dreams for Future”, Recommended Reading List, Theme Books and Quarterly Selection of Good Books in Liaoning Reading Festival. Activities like “Put down cellphone and pick up a book” initiative and “Check in at the most beautiful bookstore in Liaoning” will be launched to guide the whole society to actively participate in reading, enhance their awareness of active reading and cultivate good reading habits. Excellent representatives from all walks of life in society will be invited to share their reading experience.

This year’s reading festival is centered on the theme of “Scholarly Liaoning — Reading in a New Era and Making New Breakthroughs”, actively exploring new carriers for reading promotion, and adapting to the trend of  demassification and object-oriented reading. The festival, with the focus on six aspects, including leading reading content, expanding urban and rural reading space, promoting digital reading, holding competitions, and benefiting people, through a combination of lectures, reading, exhibition and performance, plans to carry out colorful and distinctive reading promotion activities, tries to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of reading promotion activities, and actively guides the whole society to participate in reading, so as to form a strong atmosphere of loving reading, reading good books and reading well. This will further strengthen the brand image of “Scholarly Liaoning” reading activities, deepen the development of national reading, and create a “never-ending” national reading festival.
