Lingyuan, a new variety of tulip is released recently with the joint online naming ceremony held by Lingyuan County, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province and Noordwijk City of the Netherlands.
Since 2011, Shanghai Asmier Horticulture has bridged the tulip industries in Lingyuan County and the Netherlands, bringing advanced production technology and introducing new and high-quality varieties into China. Mr Mark, a Dutch tulip bulb expert, has visited Lingyuan County for three times to inspect and guide the cut-tulip production. As a result, the new variety of tulip was named by “Lingyuan”.
“Lingyuan” tulip has large blooms, strong stems and a high bulb fertility coefficient, which can produce flowers all year round. Its colour is similar to “Chinese red”, which symbolizes auspicious and prosperous life in traditional Chinese culture.
Lingyuan County in China and Noordwijk in the Netherlands have held a watering ceremony via video link, celebrating the birth of the new “Lingyuan” tulip together.
Taking this naming ceremony as an opportunity, Lingyuan County will further increase its cooperation with domestic and international industry giants, including the Netherlands, to optimize the industrial ecology and to accelerate the development of the whole tulip industry chain. At the same time, it is looking forward to working with Shanghai Asmier Horticulture to set up the China Tulip Industry Research Institute, holding a China Flower Festival at an appropriate time, and fully showcasing Lingyuan’s tulip and lily brands at festival activities. In terms of tulip industry development, the Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Lingyuan Vegetable and Floriculture Administration are working on a “national standard” project for tulips in China, accelerating the high-quality development of the tulip industry in Lingyuan.
