On May 8, MSC’s (Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A.) latest upgraded Eurasian Line-Mediterranean West Line (DRAGON Service) launched its service with the maiden voyage of “MSC KATIE” at the Dalian Container Terminal of Liaoning Port Group in China.
This service is the first container ocean-going shipping line opened by Liaoning Port Group in 2023, filling the gap in direct shipping services between Dalian Port and the western Mediterranean region. It further enhances advantages in direct shipping from Dalian Port to the European Mediterranean region and provides strong support for the expansion of the global shipping network layout, the development of the shipping line hub, and the construction of the Great Sea-Land Corridor in Northeast China.
After active efforts, the new line opened this time is equipped with 11 large container ships of 14,000 TEUs. Dalian Port is the only port of call in northern China, along the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, passing through Israel, Saudi Arabia, and other Middle Eastern countries, linking Gioia Tauro, La Spezia, and Genova in Italy, Fos-sur-Mer in France, Barcelona in Spain, and many other countries, providing direct maritime transport services to the Tyrrhenian region of Italy and the south of France. The new line offers flexible and efficient transit time, meeting the needs of hinterland enterprises shipping chemical products, electromechanical devices, and other cargo.
