Red-crowned Crane Couple Breed in the Daliaohe Estuary Wetland
May 27,2023

Recently, two red-crowned cranes bred in captivity by Panjin successfully rear their chicks in the wild. The parent cranes with little cranes are foraging 1000 meters away from their nest and the little chubby cranes are very cute. A wild crane population has been established in Panjin, Liaoning Province since 2016 and now a healthy circle of artificial hatching, rearing, training and releasing back to nature is formed. Of the nearly 200 red-crowned cranes bred in captivity, more than 160 cranes have been released back to nature after training, making up for the shortage of wild red-crowned cranes. In 2021, the first large-scale release of red-crowned cranes was carried out at the Panjin Red-crowned Cranes Feralization Base. After more than a year of observation, the 101 cranes released have survived in the wild. In the past two years, there comes news that red-crowned cranes trained to be wild have survived and bred successfully in the Liaohe Estuary Wetland, the Dalinghe Estuary Wetland and the Daliaohe Estuary Wetland.
