The Liaoning Snake Island Laotieshan National Nature Reserve is located in the western part of Lyushunkou District in Dalian, and it includes two parts: the sea island (Snake Island) and the land (Laotieshan Mountain area), with the main objects of protection being pit vipers of Snake Island, migratory birds and its ecological environment. Laotieshan is located at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, bordered by the Yellow Sea to the east and the Bohai Sea to the west, with Laotieshan Cape to the south being the dividing point between the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. Due to its special geographical location and ecological environment, Laotieshan has become an important stop on the north-south migration route of migratory birds in the Northeast Asia continent, and is known as the“Laotieshan Bird Inn”.

Laotieshan Mountain is renowned for being home to a wide variety of raptors. Of the 99 species of raptors existing in China, 43 species have been recorded in Laotieshan Mountain. It is recommended to visit Laotieshan Mountain in Lyushunkou District from early September to late October to watch the raptors.
