Yingkou Daliao River Estuary Wetland: Spectacular Harmony Between Bird Flocks and Sunset
六月 14,2023

Yingkou Daliao River Estuary Wetland is located at the northern end of the Bohai Gulf at the Daliao River Estuary. It is an important resting area for the migratory waterbirds and a transit point for birds migrating between the northeast Asian inland and the Western Pacific Rim.

Yingkou’s shallow coastal intertidal mudflats are rich in resources, attracting a large number of migratory birds to rest and feed at the Daliao River Estuary every spring and autumn. The mudflats here are extremely important to snipes. There are only about a dozen of such mudflats in the world, among which the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea area in China is the largest. This mudflat area has abundant aquatic products that snipes like feeding on, such as small fish, shrimps, lugworms, small niliu (small clams), and small crabs. It attracts hundreds of thousands of migratory birds to rest at this transit point every year.
