On August 17, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference to provide an overview of the 12th Liaoning Arts Festival.
The 12th Liaoning Arts Festival is jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Dalian Municipal People’s Government, with the support of the Publicity Department of Dalian Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. It is scheduled to take place in Dalian from September 12 to 27, 2023.
The Liaoning Arts Festival, the largest and most influential comprehensive arts event in Liaoning, has been successfully held for 11 sessions since its inception in 1989, showcasing over 200 exceptional artistic masterpieces. The upcoming session will present stage performances created by various professional art troupes in Liaoning over the past three years. Among these, 25 artworks will be eligible for the 6th Liaoning Splendor Award. Meanwhile, eight artworks have been invited to participate in the arts festival. Among these stage performances, audiences will witness the enchantment of familiar art forms such as drama, Peking Opera, Ping Opera, and musicals, as well as distinctive local opera genres unique to Liaoning. The participating units encompass a diverse range, including state-owned art troupes at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, as well as private troupes and art schools. This arts festival serves as a concentrated showcase of participating units, epitomizing the pinnacle of professional artistry in Liaoning.
During the arts festival, all performances will feature preferential ticket prices, with no less than 50% of the tickets priced below 100 yuan. Additionally, an array of cultural activities, including mass cultural events, art exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage displays, and concerts will be free of charge. Furthermore, a wide range of cultural and tourism activities will be conducted during the arts festival, aiming to foster a vibrant cultural ambiance while promoting the seamless integration of culture and tourism. This collective effort will showcase the image of Liaoning and make Liaoning’s voice heard throughout society.
