Built in 1938, Mukden Factory was originally known as Daishin Company Mukden Factory. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Shenyang Metallurgical Machinery Factory was built on its site. Then, as it moved, the old factory area was idle. In September 2017, a design team entered the Mukden Factory to fully reinforce and renovate the old buildings, and redesign the factory, making it the most complete and largest industrial park with the most retro architectural style among those in Tiexi District.

To respect the factory and add new aesthetic value to it, the design team purchased many old bricks from the 60s to 70s from all over the country. They also found obsolete equipment, locomotives, and carriages to preserve its original appearance to the greatest extent.

Today, this is a must-see spot for hipsters. In the “Mukden Factory” with retro industrial styles, there are also many fresh experiences besides its strong artistic atmosphere.

Mukden Factory integrates industrial relics with art, commerce, architecture, education, and other fields. Former buildings including the bathhouse, printing house, clinic, club, and canteen have been transformed into an art gallery, city’s study, theater creation center, and high-tech experience base, which is a complete “rebirth” in a new way.
