Liaoning’s GDP Records 5.3% Year-on-Year Growth in the First Three Quarters of 2023

On October 20, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the first press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023, presenting an overview of the economic performance of the province in the first three quarters of 2023.

In the first three quarters, Liaoning Province firmly adhered to the primary task of high-quality development and made concerted efforts to implement the Three-Year Action Plan for Comprehensive Revitalization and New Breakthroughs. The province’s economy has maintained a stable and positive momentum, with major economic indicators growing faster than the national average.

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Liaoning reached 2,169.22 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2023, with a year-on-year increase of 5.3% at constant prices, surpassing the national average by 0.1%. Specifically, the value added of the primary industry was 157.28 billion yuan, up 4.1%; of the secondary industry, 867.60 billion yuan, up 4.8%; and of the tertiary industry, 1,144.33 billion yuan, up 5.8%.

During Q1-Q3 of 2023, the value added of industries above the designated size in Liaoning grew by 4.5% year-on-year, 0.5% higher than the national average. Notably, the value added of high-tech manufacturing industry increased by 7.4%. In terms of economic types, the value added of state-holding enterprises increased by 3.5% year-on-year; of joint-stock companies, 3.9%; of enterprises with foreign investment and enterprises with funds from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, 7.1%; and of private enterprises, 5.2%.

The value added of the service industry in Liaoning grew by 5.8% year-on-year in Q1-Q3, an increase of 0.2% compared to the first half of 2023. The total retail sales of consumer goods in Liaoning reached 763.23 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 8.1%, surpassing the national average by 1.3%.

During the first three quarters, Liaoning’s general public budget revenue amounted to 217.02 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%. Among them, tax revenue reached 146.21 billion yuan, with a growth of 15.6%. General public budget expenditure was 468.21 billion yuan, an increase of 2.6%. Additionally, the per capita disposable income of all residents in Liaoning was 28,598 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%. Specifically, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 34,298 yuan, a growth of 4.4%, while rural residents’ per capita disposable income was 16,801 yuan, an increase of 8.1%.
