With the videos of Chinese senior citizens doing morning exercise going viral online, the same is happening every day in the parks, squares, and neighborhoods in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. The grandmas and grandpas are singing, dancing on the square, kicking shuttlecock, and doing Tai Chi in high spirits.
Tariq, a young man from Yemen, gets to Zhongshan Park in Shenyang in the morning with curiosity. He wants to take a walk and do morning exercise as the healthy and energetic senior citizens in Liaoning do. This is also an immersive experience for Tariq to practice their spirited lifestyle.
Tariq feels delighted to sing, dance, kick shuttlecock, and do Tai Chi with the senior citizens. Their positive attitude towards life and pursuit of happiness have deeply moved Tariq.
“It was a brand-new experience for me and I learned a lot this morning.” Tariq said excitedly, “Morning exercise can not only bring health benefits, but also allow me to form another kind of connection with Liaoning people, which deepens my understanding of Chinese society and traditional culture.” The immersive experience has deepened Tariq’s understanding of and affection for Liaoning.
