On May 21, Jens Eskelund, Chairman of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), visited Shenyang City, the capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning Province, for the annual general meeting of European Chamber Shenyang Chapter.
Jens mentioned that the business environment in Liaoning has been improving, with various preferential policies offered to attract investment from large European companies. BMW and Michelin are among the companies that have greatly profited from the preferential policies. The policies have boosted the confidence of European companies investing in Liaoning, thus promoting their booming development in the province.
“Enhancing educational exchanges can also boost business development. Many European students choose to study in Shenyang to learn Chinese and immerse themselves in Chinese culture. After completing their studies and returning to their home countries, they can serve as cultural messengers, offering an objective and comprehensive view of China.” Jens stated, “This is also a way for Liaoning to enhance communication and exchange with Europe.” Currently, Shenyang has launched direct flights to Frankfurt. Jens hopes for more direct flights from Shenyang to European cities, to facilitate greater communication between China and Europe.
Erich Kaiserseder, Chair of European Chamber Shenyang Chapter and General Manager of Conrad Shenyang, lauded the improved business environment in Liaoning. He expressed gratitude to Shenyang and even Liaoning for their strong support of European companies in the province, particularly highlighting the “Golden Nine Policies” aimed at boosting foreign trade and economic growth. Erich stated, “These initiatives have optimized the business environment in Liaoning, and we will leverage them to drive the growth of enterprises in the province.”
As the business environment in Liaoning improves, an increasing number of European companies are choosing to settle and start businesses in the province. At the 2024 annual general meeting, six more European companies in Liaoning have joined the European Chamber Shenyang Chapter.
