On May 23, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the province’s endeavors this year to step up the improvement of rural environments and advance the building of a beautiful countryside.
Liaoning considers the purification and improvement of rural environments as the “first move” for comprehensive rural revitalization, and a “decisive battle” to achieve new breakthroughs in agriculture and rural areas. By starting with rural environments, Liaoning is advancing the construction of a beautiful countryside on all fronts and enhancing the happiness and sense of gain among the vast rural population.
Liaoning is closely focusing on key issues of “garbage treatment”, and has organized thematic activities such as the “Winter Clean-up” campaign, improvement in spring, and the “Urban-rural Environmental Cleanup” activity to address rural household waste. Targeted campaigns have been carried out in key areas such as villages and surrounding areas, roads, rivers and lakes, and black, malodorous water bodies. Moreover, the province is also promoting the classification of and reduction in waste in rural areas at the source, appointing instructors and lecturers for rural waste classification, and conducting professional training on waste classification for 216,000 people.
This year, Liaoning plans to build 1,056 beautiful and livable villages and implement 2,656 infrastructure construction projects for the universal benefit of rural areas. It will focus on developing competitive industries with local characteristics, constructing 43 demonstration zones for rural revitalization, and planning 1,083 projects. In addition, Liaoning will concentrate on the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, continuously creating 100 key rural tourism villages and implementing 120 priority construction projects.
In the next step, Liaoning will continue to aim at becoming a leading area for the development of modern large-scale agriculture. With the foundation of deepening the purification and improvement of rural environments, it will comprehensively advance the construction of a beautiful countryside. The province will also launch projects to strengthen weak links in rural revitalization, focusing on village roads, safe drinking water, reliable power supply, rural housing renovation, express delivery logistics, waste and sewage management, and other rural infrastructure. More efforts will be made to increase investment and promote construction in these areas.
