Transformation of Toutiao Hutong
2024-06-18

Toutiao Hutong was first built in 1730 AD, which is at the eighth year of Emperor Yongzheng’s Reign in the Qing Dynasty. A large number of immigrants from Shandong and Hebei provinces moved to Shengjing (now Shenyang in Liaoning Province). Later, Jiaji Toutiao Hutong gradually became the silk trading market of the Shengjing Imperial City. In 1957, the Shenyang Municipal Government set about urban planning adjustments. The three-hundred-year-old Toutiao Hutong and other time-honored areas on the north side of Zhongjie Street were all connected, and jointly named “Zhongyangli”. Now, Toutiao Hutong has become a well-known cultural and tourism destination.
