Pat: Dalian’s Diversity Aligns Well with Summer Davos
2024-06-26

Dalian is the ideal place for hosting the Summer Davos due to its embodiment of diversity, particularly in economic activities, said Pat McCarthy, an Irishman, and Chairman of the Ireland -Sino Institute, a development-focused organization operating in Liaoning since 2012.

“The city’s economy boasts a diverse range of industries, including finance, IT, and international trade. For example, around 1,000 companies from more than 30 countries and regions have invested in the Dalian Bonded Zone.”

Additionally, the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the largest shipbuilding enterprise in China, showcases the city’s diverse industrial landscape, Pat said.

“This diversity aligns well with the Summer Davos, which represents a diverse range of expert opinions from around 1700 high-level leaders in business, government, civil society, and international organizations.”

He said Dalian’s suitability for hosting the Summer Davos is further underscored by its role in the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, a vital part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The city’s port is a crucial link, connecting Asia to Europe and facilitating trade and connectivity between the continents. This strategic location aligns with the spirit of the Summer Davos, which brings together diverse perspectives from around the world to discuss global economic issues.

“Hosting the 2024 Summer Davos in Dalian will boost Liaoning’s economy through increased investment, trade and tourism, enhance its global recognition, and foster knowledge exchange.” Pat said the resulting opinions, ideas, and policies will strengthen the already vibrant economy and provide a significant boost to the Revitalization of Northeast China and the new-era Liaoshen Campaign.

Pat noted that hosting the 2024 Summer Davos in Dalian will provide a platform for global economic insights, fostering discussions on trends, challenges, and opportunities. The event will showcase the true openness and diversity of Liaoning Province, highlighting the warmth and hospitality of its government and people.

“The Ireland-Sino Institute is a testament to this, as we have been operating in Liaoning since 2012 and have always been welcomed and treated very well by local officials, and it is truly the kindness of the people of Liaoning that makes this a special place.”

He added that the Summer Davos promotes international collaboration and innovation by fostering the exchange of new ideas and solutions, and underscores that Liaoning is now among the best places in the world to invest.
