On September 14, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the activities themed on “Culture Benefits People, Tourism Boosts Consumption” to be hosted during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.
From January to August this year, Liaoning received 452.075 million visitors, up by 36.1% over the previous year. A total of 469.14 billion yuan in revenue was generated, a year-on-year increase of 43.6%.
As the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays are approaching, the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism will launch over 600 activities of various types including culture and arts, public culture, intangible cultural heritage, and museums. Of this total, the 18th Liaoning Star Award Chorus Performance, Liaoning Provincial Library’s “Understanding the People’s Republic of China: National Day Exhibition Based on Historical Documents”, Liaoning Provincial Museum’s “Our Land: Historical and Cultural Relic Exhibition of Liao and Jin Dynasties”, Shenyang Press Photo Exhibition, and Dalian Seaside Intangible Cultural Heritage Exchange and Exhibition Week are going to be held.
Over 130 activities integrating culture, sports and tourism will be hosted across the province. Of this total, Chaoyang City will conduct “Traveling in Chaoyang, Food in Chaoyang, Enthusiastic Chaoyang, Beautiful Chaoyang, and Gifts from Chaoyang” activities during the 2024 Chaoyang Marathon. Yingkou City will host the Public Fitness Competition & Hot Spring Homestay Alliance Basketball Match, and Cycling Parade Race.
Liaoning will also enhance its promotion of inbound tourism. During the holidays, the province will send groups to attend the International Tourism Exhibition in France and Japan, introducing the tourism products of Liaoning and deepening its international exchange and cooperation. With a focus on further facilitating inbound tourism, it will install foreign credit card POS terminals and currency exchange counters at key tourist attractions, offering tailored travel services for visa-free transit tourists staying for up to 144 hours.
