On October 17, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held a press conference, presenting the relevant information about transportation cooperation in Northeast China.
The year 2024 has seen new breakthroughs in the encryption for expressway networks. Two expressways from Fuxin to Naiman have entered into operation, the expansion and upgrading of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway and the construction of other seven expressways including the Lingyuan-Suizhong Expressway have been further accelerated, and the Qinhuangdao-Shenyang Expressway and the Xinmin-Fuxin Expressway projects will be initiated within this year. By then, the number of expressways under construction will reach nine, totaling 1,049 kilometers. Liaoning will also improve infrastructure capacities at ports, and implement 22 key projects of over 100 million yuan. The ports’ cargo throughput has reached 252 million tonnes this year.
Liaoning has continuously expanded its international maritime transportation businesses. Dalian China-South Korea cargo and passenger shipping routes have been resumed, 15 container shipping routes from Dalian to Chile, Mexico, India, and Pakistan have been opened, and the international shipping routes across the province have totaled 200. Liaoning has continued to expand the opening of its berth ports to foreign trade, with 14 berths, including Dalian Port and Yingkou Port, completing the inspection and approval process for international operations. The province has also expanded its international air routes, adding and resuming 12 flights from airports in Shenyang and Dalian to destinations such as Moscow, Vladivostok, and Frankfurt.
Moreover, the Northeast China Intermodal Transportation Association has played a prominent role, with 194 enterprises and public institutions joining the association and 68 premium rail-sea intermodal routes now operating stably. Next, Liaoning will participate in exploring new cooperation projects such as the collaborative construction of inter-provincial routes, the establishment of Northeast China roads emergency response mechanism, while continuing to accelerate the development of a comprehensive transportation system across the region.
