On October 23, the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government held the third press conference of the series on the economic performance of Liaoning in the first three quarters of 2024, presenting the overall situation, major achievements, and highlights of the province’s industrial economic performance of the period.
In the first three quarters this year, the added value of industries above designated size across the province grew by 3.4% year-on-year, whose growth rate rose by 0.6 percentage points compared to that of the first eight months this year. Among the 14 cities of the province, 11 cities achieved positive growth, six surpassed the national average in growth rates, and Dandong, Benxi, and Liaoyang saw an increase of more than 10% in their growth rates. Equipment manufacturing, metallurgy, and consumer goods increased by 4.5%, 7.2%, and 5.9% year-on-year, respectively.
With a focus on advancing four trillion-level industrial bases and 22 industrial clusters, Liaoning has moved faster to develop itself into a new pacesetter for advanced manufacturing with global competitiveness. Specifically, Shenyang has been listed among the pilot cities initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for applying intelligent and connected vehicles with the integrated vehicle-road-cloud system. Shares of revenues in high-ended equipment, fine chemicals, new materials for metallurgy, and modern quality distinctive consumer goods grew by 1.4 percentage points, 0.8 percentage points, 1.5 percentage points, and 1 percentage points, respectively, compared to the last year. The proportion of revenues in 22 industrial clusters as part of revenues in total industries above designated size accounted for more than 60%. Notably, revenues in the strategic emerging industrial cluster accounted for 34% of that in 22 clusters. Liaoning has also developed 921 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and 630 SMEs that use specialized and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products, with eight national-level and 60 provincial-level manufacturing individual champion enterprises.
Moreover, from January to September this year, the added value of high-tech manufacturing across the province grew by 13.3% year-on-year, 4.2 percentage points higher than the national average. The production of new energy vehicles, industrial robots, and integrated circuits increased by 4.3%, 5.7%, and 6.8% year-on-year, respectively. With a focus on intelligent development, Liaoning fostered 25 provincial-level 5G factories and held the 2024 Global Industrial Internet Conference.
