November 17th saw the official start of construction on the Shenyang Wangjiawan Ice Sports Center, a key project for China’s 15th National Winter Games, signaling the final countdown of the venue construction for this winter sports event to be held in Liaoning.
Designed with the concept of “ice jade on the clouds”, the Shenyang Wangjiawan Ice Sports Center features a large building platform that resembles a floating cloud along the Hunhe River, seamlessly connecting the city, architecture, and nature. The center comprises three winter sports venues, including the Ice Sports Comprehensive Hall, the Speed Skating Hall, and the Media Center, with a total construction area of approximately 263,800 square meters.
The Wangjiawan Ice Sports Center, a Class A sports building, is capable of hosting national and international individual competitions. Once completed, it will be a first-class ice sports complex at both national and international levels. The design seamlessly combines ice and snow sports with urban culture to create a group of multi-functional venues for speed skating, figure skating, and other ice sports. The project is scheduled to be completed and handed over before October 30th, 2026.
