On the occasion of the 16th “International Chinese Language Day”, a series of themed activities were held in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education of China, and organized by the College of International Education of Liaoning Normal University. Themed “Chinese Language: A Gift Across Time and Space”, this event drew numerous teachers, students and international friends.

In the calligraphy workshop, teachers and students traced the evolution of Chinese characters together. Under the meticulous guidance of teachers, international students diligently studied Chinese calligraphy, writing down “wo ai zhongguo (I love China)” and “youyi changcun (Friendship lasts forever)”. With writing brush and ink as a medium, they expressed their sincere love for Chinese culture, which became a vivid footnote to emotional resonance in cross-cultural communication.

In the “Diverse Sports Cultures Along Silk Road” section, Taiji (or Tai Chi) performances and kongzhu (or diabolo) playing manifested the beauty of the integration of hardness and softness in traditional Chinese sports. On the site, the interactive experiences of traditional Chinese sports games, such as shuttlecock kicking, pot pitching, iron-ring rolling, and kongzhu juggling, aroused enthusiastic responses among Chinese and international students, enhancing mutual friendship through the fun sports activities.

Teachers from Liaoning Normal University presented seeds symbolizing a bountiful harvest as gifts to representatives of Chinese and international teachers and students. The seeds represent the harmonious development and communication between diverse civilizations, and bear the beautiful expectation for mutual learning among world civilizations.
