From May 18 to 21, the first-round performances of the stage play National Treasures of Liaoning, jointly created by Liaoning Provincial Museum and Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble, were on show at Liaoning Grand Theatre. The stage play focused on 17 national treasures of Liaoning Provincial Museum, from which the choreographer extracted typical elements connoted by each cultural relic to create a series of magnificent dances. Combined with stage art and lighting design, the “cultural relics” in the stage play were brought to life. National Treasures of Liaoning adopted a time travel structure similar to the movie Night at the Museum, with the interaction between the visitor “Moxuan” and the cultural relic “Little Loong” as the thread, fully immersing the audience in the unique charm of Liaoning’s national treasures.
In 2024, to help promote the special exhibitions launched by Liaoning Provincial Museum, Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble created dance flash mobs, such as Auspicious Cranes, earning warm praise from the audience. Taking this as an opportunity, Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble and Liaoning Provincial Museum have been carrying out in-depth cooperation to create solo dances, trio dances, and group dances inspired by the museum’s collections of precious cultural relics, such as Auspicious Cranes, Nymph of the Luohe River, Court Ladies Adorning Their Hair with Flowers, Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion, Collection of Calligraphy Copybooks in Wansui Tongtian Period, Tree-Shaped Gold Shimmering Headdress, Dasheng Chime, Blue-and-White Octagonal Jar with Pine, Bamboo and Plum Patterns and Liao Dynasty Crabapple-Shaped Tri-Color Glaze Long Tray with Peonies and Double Butterflies Patterns. The stage play National Treasures of Liaoning has been listed as the 2025 Large-Scale Stage Play Creation Funding Project of the China National Arts Fund. After the first-round performances, it will tour around places such as Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
During the performances, Liaoning Provincial Museum and Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble also jointly launched the National Treasures of Liaoning series of cultural and creative products equipped with smart chips, realizing the interactive integration of “technology+culture”. Buyers can use the NFC (Near-Field Communication) function in smartphones to unlock their audio explanations.
