With China’s Dragon Boat Festival approaching, 40 international students from 24 countries studying at Dalian University of Technology visited the Dalian Museum to experience a unique traditional Chinese cultural  activity. They entered the museum with great enthusiasm, where they visited exhibitions, attended lectures, made sachets, and wore five-colored threads, immersing themselves in the unique charm of the Dragon Boat Festival.

At the museum, students learned the festival’s origins by watching Dragon Boat Festival documentaries and listening to explanations of customs. This experience provided insights into the historical stories and cultural heritage of China’s traditional festival. Students from various countries also made mugwort sachets, conveying their best wishes with each stitch.

The Russian international student Alina Chebesova said, “The beauty of traditional Chinese culture actually comes from daily life. Making sachets during the Dragon Boat Festival reflects the Chinese people’s concern for health during this season, while wearing five-colored threads embodies their pursuit of a good life.” Through this cultural experience activity, international students learned that China’s Dragon Boat Festival is a festival shared by multiple ethnic groups and boasts rich cultural value.
