During this year’s Duanwu Festival (or Dragon Boat Festival), the Liaoning Provincial Museum specially prepared a series of brilliant online and offline activities, further enriching the cultural life of the general public during holidays, and boosting Liaoning’s cultural tourism appeal. During the three-day holiday (from May 31 to June 2), the museum received a total of 120,776 visits online and offline, of which 46,684 were offline visits, and 53.3% were from outside the province. Notably, the live-streamed Dunhuang culture exhibition Affinity of Mountains and Seas·Echoes of the Desert Sands—Meeting Dunhuang in Liaoning, launched by the museum, drew 74,092 views.

Within the museum, visitors admired cultural exhibitions such as Affinity of Mountains and Seas·Echoes of the Desert Sands—Meeting Dunhuang in Liaoning and China in Bamboo and Wooden Slips: Exhibition of Exquisite Han Dynasty Discoveries from Gansu. They also experienced immersive digital exhibitions such as the XR (extended reality) large-scale exhibition Exploring the Han Dynasty Haihun Fief and the VR (virtual reality) large-scale space exploration exhibition Galactic Rhapsody: Verse One. Fun cartoon dragon boat piecing and inserting, Duanwu Festival traditional sachet making and other experiential activities showed visitors the charm of China’s traditional Duanwu Festival. The short video “Come to Liaoning Provincial Museum this Duanwu Festival” and International Children’s Day themed posters sent festival blessings of the museum to more people.

The Liaoning Provincial Museum also joined hands with the Shenyang Fantawild Adventure to drive a mobile museum exhibition vehicle into the amusement park during the Duanwu Festival. The vehicle was equipped with interactive touch screens, graphic display boards, and high-quality replicas of classic cultural relics such as the Hongshan culture Jade Pig-Shaped Dragon, and the Tang Dynasty painting Court Ladies Adorning Their Hair with Flowers, which became a “touchable history classroom” that attracted a large number of tourists.
