Recently, the film Dead To Rights held a road show in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), the film is set against the backdrop of the Nanjing Massacre in 1937, using restrained camera language to expose the atrocities of the Japanese army and depict the transformation of civilians from fear to resistance. After its release on July 25, the film’s box office has exceeded 260 million yuan, topping the single-day box office chart, and breaking the first-day record of war films in the past three summer vacations.
