During this year’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Liaoning Provincial Museum meticulously prepared a variety of cultural exhibitions and festival-themed activities, extended its closing hours, and increased the number of performances of National Treasures in Liaoning. Multiple guide service stations were established throughout the museum to create a comfortable visiting environment, attracting many enthusiastic visitors from both within and outside Liaoning Province.

From October 1 to 8, the museum received 171,000 visits. Of these, 69.8% were from outside the province, while 30.2% were from within the province. The top five sources of visitors from outside Liaoning Province were: Heilongjiang Province, Hebei Province, Jilin Province, Shandong Province, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Excluding Shenyang City, the top five sources of visitors from within the province were Dalian City, Anshan City, Tieling City, Fushun City, and Jinzhou City.
During the holiday, the museum held exhibitions both online and offline. The exhibition “Mountains and Seas in Harmony, A Unity of Diversities: Liaoning’s Exhibition on Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation” vividly depicted the journey of striving in unity among Liaoning’s ethnic groups. “Mighty Currents Join the Sea: Chang Shu-Chi’s Painting Exhibition” showcased the artistic life of Chang Shu-Chi, one of the “Three Masters of Jinling”, through over 100 paintings. The “Splendor of Tang and Song Dynasties” digital art exhibition hall offered holiday activities, allowing visitors to “travel through time and space” via technology, and further immerse themselves in the exhibition. Three online exhibitions facilitated remote viewing for visitors from outside the province, including “Mountains and Seas in Harmony, A Unity of Diversities: Liaoning’s Exhibition on Fostering a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation”, “When Two Kilns Shine as One: An Exhibition of Ceramic Sculpture from Shiwan and Jingdezhen in the Early Years of the People’s Republic of China”, and “Affinity of Mountains and Seas·Echoes of the Desert Sands—Meeting Dunhuang in Liaoning”.
Furthermore, the museum also hosted a wide range of cultural activities. To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, it launched a series of events, including “Lighting Up Reunion—Mid-Autumn Festival Lanterns DIY”, “Flavor of Mid-Autumn Festival in Liaoning Provincial Museum—Making Mooncakes with Cultural Relic Designs”, and “Porcelain Appreciation with Reunion: Mid-Autumn Festival Special Lectures”. “Liaoning Provincial Museum Handicrafts”, featuring knotting and cloth appliqué painting, allowed visitors to experience the charm of Liaoning’s intangible cultural heritage firsthand. “Botan Yaji: A Special Activity Featuring the Furnace Transmutation Glaze Pomegranate-Shaped Zun”, and “Special Lecture: The Exquisite Cockscomb Pot” both offered in-depth insights into the historical and cultural significance of artifacts in the museum. To bring national treasures to life, the museum collaborated with Liaoning Song and Dance Ensemble to present the dance drama National Treasures in Liaoning, showcasing the artifacts of the museum through stage art. During the holiday, the museum also held a “Cultural and Creative Products Fair”, featuring designs inspired by cultural relics. These diverse products blended history and culture with modern creativity, fulfilling visitors’ desire to “bring the museum home”.
